Welcome to the brand new Det 5 website. Our humble virtual abode on the World Wide Web was especially designed to coincide with and commemorate the celebration of our 20th Anniversary.
Wednesday 10 June 1992 marked the day that Khun Aram, aka Khun Lek, aka Khun Mat signed the official transfer documents and became the sole proprietor of the "Sexy Night" Beer Bar, a small wooden shack in Buckskin Joe Village, aka Tobacco Road, aka Soi Zero, underneath the Expressway and precariously close to the railroad tracks.
This new site charts Det 5's colourful history, expressed in words and pictures, from its humble and unassuming beginnings — a wooden beer bar with 1 counter top and 5 bar stools — all the way to its current incarnation as an oasis in the centre of bustling Bangkok, offering al fresco dining with a wide selection of Thai and International delicacies, an eclectic range of live and recorded music, pool tables and darts, in a relaxed and informal, family-friendly environment.
